FCGDT 2020 Cancellation Announcement

After careful consideration, due to the worsening COVID-19 situation we have been forced to make the difficult decision to cancel the FCGDT 2020 meeting. The health, safety and well-being of our attendees and faculty is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, we believe it is in the best interests of everyone to cancel the meeting and ensure everybody is safe and reassured.

Our decision to cancel this inaugural event was not taken lightly. The organizing committee has been closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as European governments and advisory bodies. In the last week, there has also been an increasing number of travel advisories and restrictions being placed on researchers and clinicians around the globe and it was becoming increasingly clear that cancelling the meeting was the only reasonable option at this time.

We had received a significant number of registrations for what was to be the first FCGDT meeting. Therefore, although we are forced to cancel at this time, we have certainly become aware of the major interest in this meeting and the scientific and educational value it offered, and it is our intention to hold this meeting at some stage in the future once the current situation has improved.

If you have registered to attend the conference, we are already beginning to work on arranging refunds of registration fees. If you booked and paid for accommodation at Djurönäset, the hotel will refund any payment made. We appreciate your patience as we work through this unprecedented situation.
